When Being Tied Down Is A Good Thing

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Tie DownA classic of English literature, the novel Gulliver's Travels has the captain travel to Lilliput where after a shipwreck awakes to find himself tied town by these little six inch citizens. In much of our life being tied down with a job, people we don't care for, or suffering with health can indeed be a burden. But also being

Tied Down Is A Good Thing.

Think of the many areas of how this is true.

  • Your Principles - you have a set of behaviors that guide your through life, a moral compass so to speak
  • Your Family - if you are blessed with a good one, they are the roost you come home to in the evening, and make all you do in your life worth living. Such a home is a shelter from the storms of life
  • Your Friends - your carefully hand selected members that YOU choose, that are there for you in good times and bad, being able to bounce your feelings about the world to them and rely on them for support
  • Finally, your Faith. We all have to discover our own faith journey. It can be an absolute rock for you when the high waves hit you, because you are "tied down", with your anchor of life embedded in that stone

So fear not, when you think of being tied down along the way in life. Sometimes being tied down is a very good thing.

These ties that bind and bless my soul...  Great lead in with Gulliver's Travels.  Hadn't thought about the satire or parody of that story in a long time.  I agree with those before me here - your 4 tie downs are very welcomed indeed!

Hi Gary,

This is yet another interesting perspective that you make.

I think the other thing that you can add to that list is your goals.  I think being tied down and committed to the outcomes that you want to achieve is a good thing, especially during these times.

Gary, I couldn't agree more - I often try to think about the people and things that are most important to me and my life in a very positive way - not tying me "down" - but connected in ways that energize and inspire me.  Nothing is going to keep this Irish girl down and having a great family and friends behind me, lifting me up is what counts.  But if I have to be tied down - I couldn't think of a better group of people to be tied to.  You always get me thinking Gary and I thank you for that. ~Anne Marie
