Louisville, Colorado has lost a very important role model! John or "Jesus on a bike" , as he was called by many, lost his life last week doing what he loved, picking up after the residents of Louisville and Lafayette, Colorado. John considered everyone to be his friend. We were all his people! At any time during the day you could drive through the streets of Louisville and see him on his bike. He would smile and wave to you as though you were a movie star in your own parade. My children were quick to point him out so we would not miss the chance to see his smile. You could see him at 7:30 in the morning when you were driving the kids to school or late at night after a full day of showing homes. I now drive through the neighborhood where he lived and expect to look up and see his smiling face or see him trimming someones hedge, picking weeds or picking up trash. He could be seen on any given day riding around on his bike with two bulging bags of trash that he had picked up throughout the community. When you went to Albertsons or Starbucks he was there to open the door for you or tell you about the lastest movie. He treated everyone with love and made you feel special. We were his people that he cared for and we cared for him. At his funeral the people spilled out of the sanctuary, out of lobby and out the door. Everyone wanted to wave good-bye to John as he had done for us every day. God blessed us with him! We now have to pick up after ourselves and take care of each other. It is all about the LOVE!
