The Inevitability of Change

Change is inevitable, we have all heard that, in fact most of has said that.  In the current economic situation that we're in we are all seeing it.  I don't know if I have ever mentioned it before, but I am a fanatic of CSI, the original.  I think that I have seen every episode, thanks to Tivo!  In the past half a season or so, we have seen 3 major cast members leave the show, including the star William Petersen.  I watched the changes with trepidation, I know that change is inevitable, I just don't alway embrace it!

When Jorja Fox left the show last season I thought, ok, the rest of the cast will make up for her leaving.  I really disliked the way that Gary Dourdan left the show, although it made a great episode.  William Petersen's leaving left me nervous, he was the rock, the glue.  I like Laurence Fishburne, I just wondered how he could take the place of the central character.

I will admit that I hesitated watching the first episode or two after Grissom (Petersen's character) left.  I will have to say that now, I like the change.  The show just continues on, and I like that.  I never thought that CSI was like either ER or Law and Order that have turned over completely, show i resisted that type of change over on CSI.  In the end, I will probably end up liking the show now more than I did previously!

The long and short of what I am saying with this is that we live in a changing world.  Things that happened last year or two years ago are different than what is happening today.  Our economic reality for now is drastically different than it was in 2005, as is most of our business models.  We have the unique ability and opportunity to change as we go along.  Change is something that we either do, or we will be run over by.

This economy is one that is challenging us constantly to monitor and eliminate what isn't working and implement what is or will work.  Social Media is a buzz word that describes one area that Real Estate has and is changing.  Getting away from marketing an image, and going more to the personal service approach.  Market leader is often being replaced by market expert in our literature we use to advertise.  These are but a few small areas that have changed, at least to what I have noticed.

So I guess what I am saying is that we should sit back and enjoy the show!  Embrace and create change!  Make it a Great Week!

My dad's mom adopted me as a juvenile delinquent when I was almost 11. The following summer she helped me start my first business researching, writing, and typing papers for college students at Texas A&I University. One of the things that she kept saying to me was that when I became successful I would have to "change to stay the same but not for the sake of change." I wasn't quite sure what she meant at that time in my life, but I sure do now. I look at so many companies that made it to #1 and forgot to change to stay ahead of the competition, instead deciding to rest on their laurels. In the realm of software, WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3 come to mind.

Change is inevitable simply because we have a capacity for learning and teaching others.
