I read someone say the other day that she has more fun with her virtual friends than she does with her friends in real life.
That's interesting to me because the friends I've made online have in many ways made more of an impact on me, my life, and my business than most people I've met in real life. I started wondering, why is that? How could that be when I've never even met most of my virtual "friends?" Then I realized something important...
The friends I've made online are like me, more like me than just about anyone I know locally. They are entrepreneurs, business owners for the most part. They are dealing with the same situations I am -
- balancing home and business
- learning how to take advantage of all the social media platforms available
- finding and implementing ways to grow our businesses
It's about what I've been saying for a while now. Social networking affords us the opportunity to make connections. Those connections are what make us feel that our friendships with folks we met through Active Rain or Twitter or Facebook mean even more to us than what we ever expected.
Aren't you glad you got on for the ride? It's the ride of my life, I tell you!
