Lake Thunderbird just outside of Smithville Texas

Lake Thunderbird is a small lake community about 7 miles outside of Smithville Texas, approx. 45 minutes from Austin, 2 hours to San Antonio or the Coast.  Lake Thunderbird offers rrelaxed country living with light covenants, volunteer fire department, play ground, and local general store.  This is one of three lake communities in Bastrop County.

Looks like a great place to live and go fishing. Lot cheaper than the Highland Lakes and less crowded.

The lake looks like an oasis in the country.  Are there any golf courses and tennis courts nearby?  It looks like an area that my husband and I will want to check out for retirement, perhaps our Golden Pond.
