Replacing a Bathroom Light Fixture in My Old House

Well along with replacing my outlets & switches throughout my old house (built in 1904), I have taken on the project of replacing the light fixture in my bathroom and putting a new mirror up.  Here's my time line of events so far:

November: Removed old Mirror Medicine Cabinet & Light fixture and realized that the hole for the electrical was off-center and would be exposed.  Thought I was going to have to drill a hole through the stud to slide the wires through - that's what a boy told me - Girls don't listen to boys, check things out for yourself!

December: Looked at it everyday & hope my husband would take care of it.

January: More contemplating & hoping Elves would fix it.

February: cut a hole in the center of the wall, where the new light fixture would go.  Pulled the cords through the stud and admired my work.  Realized that I needed to put in a new box to hold the electrical wires & mount the light fixture on.  Bought the right equipment - I hope - and will install this weekend.  Hope to put the heavy mirror up too, but that will probably take some time... at least I am making some sort of progress!

I will let you know how it goes.

This light & mirror are up & functional!  See the photos in my other blog.  Still need to patch the old hole, but atleast I can use that space now!

Bathroom - Beforebefore

Bathroom -After After (trust me, the mirror is hung up)
