Create A Font for Free - Your Own Handwriting is Ready for Electronic Glory

Real Estate Agent with Utah Homes 9334967-SA00

yourfontsNow... this is not a typical Real Estate post. It's mostly a fun curiosity that could be of interest to bloggers and note writers everywhere.

When I was in grade school I won a penmanship award.

It was an unlikely and, to this day, debated achievement...

... that's right; there are doubters and skeptics in my midst.

However, I have award winning handwriting ... and, until/unless someone finds and shreds the certificate, it can’t be taken away from me.

What better way, then, to celebrate my glorious handwriting than to turn it into a font?

This promise is delivered, absolutely free I must add, by the good folks at

Last night everyone in the family took a turn creating their own typeface.

Some were spectacular- others looked a bit elementary. (I’m not revealing my results… let’s just say- the merit of my past achievement is in jeopardy.)

The process is simple:

1. Print a lettering template.

2. Write within the boxes.

3. Scan it.

4. Upload it to yourfonts.

5. Install the font.

6. Witness the majesty.

BONUS! You can scan your signature as well… that way you can “sign” documents.

MORNING CHUCK!  OK!  What fun!  My daughter is home sick today, she finally fell asleep, I just commented on about as many blogs as I could - now I can do this!  Thanks for sharing!  -- Gabrielle

Good grief! I can hardly read my handwriting, myself. Why would I want it as a font?

Chuck this might be a good one for me to try?  I won't win any penmanship contests.  Thats for sure.

Chuck, I never won ANY awards for penmanship :(  But I'd like to try this, it does sound interesting and fun...thanks for passing it along.

I definitely never won any penmanship awards and have always thought typing was a great way out of that.  However, I would love to be able to have my signature.  Thanks for the idea.

Chuck, this is a great tool, thanks. I would just be wary of where I put my signature, not on a website or anything public.

Chuck -

This is very cool! Perfect for people whose penmanship is legible, but I don't think I'm one of them

I created my personal font for the Send Out Cards program, which can only be used within that program and the procedure was the same.  I'm excited about this to use in other programs.  I'm not really happy with the results of my "font" from the card program and they charge for a re-do.  My lower case "a" is giant and looks ridiculous.  At least this, you can re-do until you are happy with it.  Can't wait to try it.  Thanks so much for sharing!

Congrats on your award in grade school.  I was the one who had to do their homework again and again because the teacher couldn't read my writing.  Wish there were computers back then.

What an interesting idea!  This is something that would have worked better for my Dad.  He had great penmanship.  Me?  Not so good.  :)
