With todays atmosphere energy saving options i.e. GREEN is no doubt the future.

Being in Alabama some of the guidelines are not feasible.

How would I go about going GREEN, Energy Star certified for my area?

Look forward to your reply.

Gary,

Great question! It has two broad answers and they are connected and are separate at the same time.

Being or "going green" can be defined as being energy efficient. Yet it also includes developing an awareness of how your building uses water, the building's resources and indoor air quality and an effective way to transfer specific building maintenance and care instructions over to your buyer in the form of homeowner education (i am assuming you're speaking of residential construction).

The Energy Star program does not include specific references to how the building uses water, it touches on indoor air quality (because a building relys on interconnected components, when you focus on one element, that action can effect another), and it does not require you to evaluate how you use the land upon the building rests.

So...the quick answer is yes, the Energy Star program and it's guidelines (if followed) will help the occupant save on energy cost, but going green or building green will mean paying attention to more than how the building uses energy.

I'd love to speak with you on the phone and specifically answer more questions. Catch me toll free @ 1-877-809-6139 or email me @ smith6673@gmail.com.
