It appears to be some giant vine that grew into and near the tree? Quite amazing in appearance.

Joan,
Woops, I meant to save that as a draft to send out today. I went to spend the night caring for my mother at her home and didn't know when I would get a chance to submit. I thought I would get it organized and ready. I must have hit submit out of habit.
Renee,
It is hard to pull anything over on all the sharp Active Rainers.
Lou,
Thanks for your comment, we all had a blast on this. I have a picture of the wife on there too but I knew what kind of trouble I would be in posting that.
Angelia,
See above comment-- woops.

Justin,
It is very old as well. As we were in the park there were deer grazin on the grass nearby. Pretty cool place.
Myrl,
I believe it is part of the root system from what I read but it has been many years since I was there.
Richard,
I wish I could remember what kind of trees they are. Maybe one of our Rainers can help.
Charles,
Thanks for commenting on my blog again. You always have great comments and I appreciate it.
Karen,
Just barely, It has been a long time since I was a kid even though I still like to act like one.
Kim,
We were there for several hours. Nobody wanted to leave. It was a lot of fun.

Randy,
Where is that, my kids would love to climb on it. Can't wait for spring so they can play outside and climb trees and stop climbing my book cases.
