Slowly Losing It...

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Marketing 4 Realtors

I started going grey right after my first child was born.  I was 26 years old.  Quite young, I might say!  But I went grey all the same.  It started off slowly, almost crept up on me.  I woke up one day to a few long strands of grey hairs.

Then child #2 came along.  With him came not a manual but more grey hair.  Then child #3.  And more grey hair.  Then #4.  And you guessed it - more grey hair.  When the final set came along, our twins, I thought I wouuld go completely grey.  Fortunately, I still have some of my original black hair.

Why am I talking about all my kids and the grey hair that came with them?  Because lately, the 6 of them have me wanting to pull out said grey hair.  I mean by the roots, too!  Talk about driving me insane.

You know you're at the end of your rope when:

  • you wake up in the morning and hear fighting children, go investigate and find that they are still sleeping...
  • you can't remember their names - but you only have one child...
  • your kids run when you enter the room...
  • your 13 year old comes home from school and instead of saying "hey Mom" he says "Mom, I'm making you some tea"...
  • you take 2 hours at the grocery store getting a gallon a milk and some bread, just so you don't have to rush home...
  • your kids have a game of "who sounds most like mom" which is mostly yelling or holding your head in your hands.

Is this you?  There is hope!  Parents Annonymous has opened a chapter at a location near you.  For more details, just dial 1-800-CALGON!

This is too funny!  Calgon take me away! Boy can I relate.  I have been known to hang out at the grocery store for sanity.  I've noticed the gray hairs creeping up on me too.  Thanks for the laugh.

Renae~ Oh!  I can definitely relate.  I have four children.  (All grown now) I had 4 kids in four years. ( at least it was only three pregnancy's- I had twins the third time)  I can actually recall being in a store by myself, and thinking how much I did NOT want to go home and that I wished I could stay there ...) Well, eventually I went back home, but I still feel bad that I felt that way, but that is the truth!

Glad I could give you a little funny for the day, Stacy! Glad to know I'm not the only one who frequents the local grocery store!

I also had 4 kids in 4 years, Vickie.  Our youngest are 4, 2, and 10.5 month old twins.  It is always good to know that someone else knows what I'm going through and feels my pain.  You survived, which is proof that I can survive this!

Carolyn, I know you know!  You probably understand the whole "pull out your hair" thing better than most!

Oh Elie, Elie, Elie, I am faaaaar from a saint!  Did you not just read my post?  I can't remember my kids names!  I say "boy" or point to the child I'm referring to.  It is pathetic! LOL

I just called my son by three names before I got it right, I called him my daughter's name, my younger brother's name and then my husband's name.  Today is so one of those days.

And apparently it's incurable.  My mother-in-law still mixes up her 2 boys and they are pushing 50!  My kids know whoever has been in the most trouble lately, because that's the first name out of my mouth when I start to fuss at someone :)

My mother still does it, Lisa!  After all these years, you'd think she could get our names right.  I'm almost always one of my sisters when my mother starts getting worked up over something.  She just starts naming people, I guess hoping mine will be in there somewhere!

Wow, Erika!  Another alien in a world of parents of 2.5 children! I don't get much P&Q so I know exactly what you mean!

I don't think being blonde works with kids and grey hair, Kathleen, although it probably helps hide it a bit, huh?

You are such a strong woman to raise 6 children!  Sometimes I have no idea what's going on with just one!  And the few trips I get anywhere, grocery store, drug store, etc., are quite a blessing!
