Will the real Roland Burris please stand up?

Who is the real Roland Burris?  If you look at his headstone he is a trailblazer who has selflessly served the people of Illinois for years.  I thought ex Gov Blago picked a Teflon clad guy in Burris.  If you look back upon his career it appears scandal free.

As we watched Roland get hammered from every corner it appeared he was a legitimate choice and not even Blago could screw this one up.  During questioning Roland Burris told Illinois legislators that he had no contact with anyone related to former Gov. Blagojevich and his alleged scheme to sell that same senate seat? Roland scores the seat and time to move on...

But wait just one minute.... Now Roland Burris has said that, as a matter of fact, he actually did have such contact? Now Burris recalls that he did have contact with Blago's ex Chief of Staff who is now indicted and probably looking forward to some quiet time in the Governors ward of Wisconsin Federal Prison.  It appears that Burris did try to do some fundraising for Blago but must have had amnesia when asked during his confirmation process about any contact...

It looks like we will have to see what the ethics investigation produces as Roland has publicly stated that he will no longer answer questions regarding this ordeal.

I have never been one to judge someone before they have had their day in court.  I would be interested in what the next inscription on Rolands headstone will be.  Any suggestions?

Hi Dean

The only thing that you can say about Roland Burris is the story will be continued.

Any person who puts up a headstone while still living to brag about themselves throws up a big red flag to me. Talk about an ego!!

Happy Friday!!

He's crazy.  He knew what he was getting into.  Having said that even he's innocent, he still did it in a way that everyone's asking questions.  Not the sharpest crayon in the box.

I did not have sexual relations .... oh that was someone else, sorry!  This guys' in trouble all those FBI wiretaps will have him nailed to the wall.

Connie is right, he is not going away.  We have to take him away out of office in a straight jacket!  I bet this guy is a 'kicker' instead of a fighter.

For someone who was fighting so hard to get the seat, you think he would have his nose clean first!

CHICAGO - Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says Sen. Roland Burris should resign his post for the good of the state.

Quinn said Friday that his fellow Democrat, Burris, is an honorable man. But he says controversy surrounding Burris' appointment has cast a shadow over his service in the Senate.

The governor says a new senator should be chosen by special election.

Burris was appointed by former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who was later impeached and removed from office.

Burris initially said there was no discussion of him doing Blagojevich any favors in exchange for the appointment. But Burris later acknowledged he did discuss the vacant seat with the governor's friends and allies. He says he was asked to raise money for Blagojevich but couldn't find anyone willing to contribute.

This is nothing more than Chicago Politics at its finest. I find it all humorous but sad at the same time.
