Your Most Important Allies

By
Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Twin City, Waterloo

Just a few short weeks ago was "Secretary Week".  In honour of that, I'd like to put my plug in for your administrative assistants.  Having worked at the front desk of Re/Max Twin City in the past I got to know well over a hundred different agents.  Some treated me with respect and some treated me as their means to their end.  I existed to make their life easier.

Allow me to encourage you to treat your admin assistants like they are your most important allies!  Often the front desk staff are the first people your clients deal with, whether it be when the first walk in the door or when they call in.  So, treat them with respect and they're more likely to love their job, and act accordingly.   They will be far more highly motivated to make your life easier if they feel you appreciate them.

We had one agent who would periodically bring us a flower or a chocolate.  Just that small gesture was enough to make me want to go that extra mile for him when he needed me to.

There's something to think about.....

Good post! I also started in the real estate business as an office employee, I was the front desk receptionist. Office people are normally the glue holding the business together and should be shown some appreciation. Thank you for bringing this up!
