The Seaside Bazaar in Encinitas, California - Jeff Dowler

The Seaside Bazaar in Encinitas, California - Jeff DowlerThe Seaside Bazaar in Encinitas is an intriguing outdoor shopping venue, held every Saturday and Sunday during the year. The Bazaar offers an eclectic range of vendors (perhaps 40) with all sorts of products (and I suspect it changes each week as well, a little bit like the local farmer's markets do, with the regulars and then the newbies

The Seaside Bazaar is held in a large parking area (on the coast road) just north of downtown Encinitas, a short hop from the La Paloma Theater, and before you reach Encinitas Boulevard (right on the Coast Road). I drive by it all the time but have never stopped by, since I am usually heading to an appointment.

This past Sunday, on the way back from a listing appointment in Del Mar, I dropped by to see what it was all about.

It never ceases to amaze me what you can find at outdoor shopping markets like this, which are fairly common in SoCal, although not necessarily held on a regular basis. Sunday's offerings included a wide range of imported clothing from Southeast Asia and other world regions, jewelry (a staple at EVERY arts and crafts fair and outdoor market I have ever been to), teak furniture, aromatherapy products, paintings, chiropractic services, several vendors offering a variety of arts and crafts, and even cabinetry. They even had the requisite musician with his guitar (he was actually quite good) to entertain shoppers.

The Encinitas downtown area is a vibrant shopping (I love Queen Eileen's) and dining region, and the Seaside Bazaar is a fun addition to enjoy, even if you just shop visually. And of course the fabulous Moonlight beach is just 3 blocks away, along with a selection of perhaps 40 different restaurants. A great place to spend a few hours on the weenend.
