Packaging

Have you ever noticed that many items are over packaged?  Some time ago, I recall that the best and tidiest packages were bought in small curio shops.  However, I recently bought a sweater in a high priced gift shop in Vancouver.  In return for my money, I received my sweater wrapped in paper, set inside a medium sized box that was then placed carefully in a paper bag.  It was a ceremony!  I paid for a ceremonial sweater sale!  It was very amazing how much packaging was involved in the purchase of an item of clothing.  I wonder if the sweater would have been cheaper if there was no ceremony involved.  I would gladly have used my own bag, or maybe, even worn it out!
