I'm sure the reason the Rocky Mountains aren't called the Forest mountains or the Green Mountains is because they are rocky. If you have ever driven down most any highway in Colorado you have fantastic views and vistas. These views are possible because they aren't blocked by trees.
Maybe one of the few exceptions of the Rocky Mountain template is Locke Mountain in Florence Colorado. Locke Mt is at the base of the mountain ranges in a pocket just north of the Wet mountains. This pocket provides a lush forest unlike most of the area. And nestled in this green mountain covered in pine, cyprus and other indigenous tress is a small gated community. The smell of the trees on Locke Mt. does remind me of summer camp.
Custom homes on 35-40 acres with just about all the privacy you could wish for. Just a half hour away from Canon City and Florence this paradise is unknown to many locals. Most every lot or home has a panoramic view of Pikes Peak and the Front Range. At night these homes can see the lights of Pueblo 35 miles away. And when the sunlight is just right you can see Pueblo Lake.
