Is that a Sea Lion? How did you get so close? and what is underneath him???
This is a great picture. Reminds me of my trip to San Francisco. Thank you!
So cute....I'm hoping our sun comes out this morning and I can get some sun too.
Haha, that picture is too cute. He looks so happy basking in the sun! Actually if it was warmer, that would be the look my dog would have on her face in the yard. Thanks for sharing!
Joanne, yes this is a sea lion. There is a municipal pier in Santa Cruz that sea lions hang out under. Fishermen use the pier, and the sea lions find good snacking below. There are fishing holes cut in the pier - about 4 foot square - and this sea lion perched on one of the supports so he (she?) could catch the sun coming down through the opening. I just love that smile!
This is from a trip we took to Santa Cruz a few years ago, Tony. We loved it, and seeing the sea lions was a real treat.
That's what I thought this looked like, Karen - a sea lion with face turned to the sun, loving the warmth and glow.
No sea lions in Montana, I imagine! If this had sound, you'd be able to hear the barking and squaking that went with this view.
Jenn, that would be ME if I could be in Santa Cruz! As it is, Baltimore started the day in the 20's, so the only one enjoying the sun around my house is the cat in her bed in the window seat.
What a super photo...I hope you've put this into a newspaper or magazine! I'm used to seeing seals, otters, Orca whales, etc., but not as close up as this sweetie!
Li, this sea lion had so much personality...and he/she clearly liked posing for tourist photos!
Peg, this is great! Hope he has sunscreen on, looks like a lot of sun there! What a ham LOL
