What Would Happen If We Had Only A Good News Day?

Every time I watch the evening news I am more depressed than I was before I started. Even before all of the current events had reached their epic proportions, I still felt that way. I know staying informed is important but somehow all of that stuff seems to find you no matter where you hide. I hear the debates, and the yelling to make a point no matter what the cost. I think of the stress inside those bodies and wonder if some day they will wish they had not given so much of themselves, not knowing that life energy is not eternal, at least in human form. What would happen if we did not all buy into this frenzy? What would happen if we even took one day off and had a good news day?  The "Miracle on the Hudson"  was one of those good news stories that we all needed to hear. Watching Sully Sullinberger, with his calm demeanor makes me think we need more of him out there making difference than those who shove it down our throats.  I know in my small world of the Southern Maine there is more good things happening than bad. I was on my way to an Open House at Congresswoman Chellie Pingree's office. This kind gentleman held the elevator door open for me it for me even though I was a great distance away. Come to find out we both met in the same office and I got to thank him again and he was from Windham also. A little event but such a nice warm feeling inside resulted. Sometimes it is just a smile that changes a whole situation form bad to better.  My favorite place in North Windham is the Maine Bean, a beautiful post and beam restaurant filled with the aromas of freshly baked goods. Bernard, who manages it has made it his personal mission to great everyone who comes through the door as if they were his friends. He knows what I like and saves it for me. It is something he does not have to do but it sure makes a difference to me.  John Meade, a stockman at Wal-Mart in Windham brings in those carriages through the snow. It is his job but he does it well also helping those that need assistance along the way. The lady at the deli in Wal-Mart filled my order and as she was passing to me, looked me square in the eye and said "I hope that you have a wonderful day". And she meant it. Pass the good along when you are out there, especially now. The world is better one person at a time and we do make a difference. We all need those good stories.  Let it be you making them.
