Gratitude, Let It Shine!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Greater Cleveland West

Let It Shine! As a strong believer in a positive attitude, I know that a major part of attitude is gratefulness.  After reading "The Power of Positive Thinking" I believe it even more. One of the stories Norman Vincent Peale tells is about a man who came to him after losing his business telling him that he's lost everything.  To make a long story short, Mr Peale asked if he'd lost his wife, his children, his health, etc. The man replied that his wife was very supportive and loved him greatly, his children also loved and supported him, and he was a healthy individual.  So, the man really had not lost everything.  In fact, he had the most valuable gifts surrounding him and he didn't even recognize it.

I think we all feel that way one time or another, especially since we're dealing with such hard economic times. If we step back and really take a hard look, we all have many things to be grateful for on a daily basis.

Keeping this in mind, I'd like to start a daily blog where we can tell each other what we're grateful for on an ongoing basis.  Visit my new group....Gratitude, Let It Shine!

And, oh by the way, I'm never too busy for any of your Northeast Ohio referrals!

I've also been inspired by the concept that because you can't control other people and you can't control your life circumstances the only thing you really can control is your attitude.

I've heard the stories about the suicides over financial issues. What happened to the idea that "where there's life there's hope"? I've been in far worse shape financially than we are in now, but even then I had my husband and kids and we survived just fine.

Life is good!

Great post.  A great example that money can't buy happiness.  Another book you all may enjoy is "The Magic of Thinking Big."

Hi Sue -- It's nice to run across someone else here in Northeast Ohio!  Nice post.  I once heard that it is impossible to think about a negative and a postive thought at the same time -- and you know what, it works!

Sue, something with this that has been very helpful for me is to practice feeling (ie what does gratitude feel like to me) grateful.  The reason this is helpful for me is because sometimes I want and need to feel grateful the most when I am the most frustated.

Great idea, Sue!  My husband, Steve, always keeps his attitude and outlook positive and grateful.  His favorite saying, which ends his voice mail message is, "Remember, the day is what you make it, so make yours a great one!"  People call his number just to listen to the message!  Check out his blog site, www.TheDayisWhatYouMakeIt.com.  I'm sure he would love your comments!  Thanks for starting this group!

Hi Sue,

I like how you think!  We would be happier if we remembered to maintain an attitude of gratitude.

Attitude is something that I know drives us and is so important.  However, it is something that I tend to let go when I get busy.  My work attitude is great but I lose sight of the friendly smiling part of the attitude and I don't want to.  I will be joining your group cause this is something I need to work on.  Thank you for the invite.  Looking forward to a great attitude all the time!

It's Friday!  TGIF! About a year and half ago I went through a divorce after 32+ years of being married to an emotionally, verbally abusive alcoholic husband.  At that time I thought the world was ending but, guess what, it didn't.  I learned so much through the process and have come back to the strong, independent person I always was and always will be.

Today I have an opportunity to help my neice who is going through a terrible time because her husband is addicted to heroine.  He fell off the wagon after 15 months of sobriety and is now in jail because he became violent while he was on a high.

Why would I say I'm grateful about this?  Because I really understand from a heart's point of view how my neice is feeling and I am so grateful that I'm here to help her deal with the situation from a 1st hand point of view.  God certainly works in mysterious ways!  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

It is all about attitude.  There are sellers....there are buyers.  It is that simple.  Does the market stink?  Yes, but who cares.  Get your sellers out of a jamb and get your buyers a deal of deal.  You market share will increase as agent fall off the mountain, so this is a time to rejoice.

I just may write a post to tell agents to quit if they can't handle the heat........

Saturday, 2/28/09 - I finally got the contract back signed by the bank on a transaction I have been working on and was pleasantly suprised to see my buyer got a $500 bonus toward his closing costs and I got a $500 bonus for being the selling agent!  What can be better than that!  My buyer wins and because of that I won!
