100% legal credit Restoration...

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Keystone Realty RS288420

I just finished looking into a new company that has moved to the Hanover pa area.

They shall remain nameless. I never want to slam someone trying to make a living.

They are a credit repair company that took out a good size ad in our local paper.

The ad was nicely presented and informative.  promises to pay the consumer $10,000 if they fail!!

Also the company boosts they are former credit bureau executives.. how can you go wrong.

I had to look into this. Many of my buyers that have some bumps on there credit may want to take this route.

I went to the web site and looked around. Everything sounded good and  no bull it was all on the up and up.

The client had to be responsible for keeping in touch and doing some leg work .

This company will do a lot more then send letters and dispute , they seem to know the ins and out of the credit industry!! I was impressed.

The down fall They charge up front $795.00. Ouch!

I was really thinking hey maybe I can work together with this company and help some of my clients ...

You know always thinking about how to get to a sale..  And a renter to a home owner.

The question is.. Would you as a buyer want to pay $795.00??? That just seems over the top. Or maybe I am out of touch.

Or would you just work on it on your own?? It will time , energy, and patience.. But it will not cost you $795.00... Just some blood, sweat and tears!!!

Hi Sharon.  It sounds like you have checked out that company, but I'd be weary of doing business with any company that makes your clients pay for any services upfront. There are tons of credit repair scams out there today.

You might want to read this article on the FTC's website ('Project Credit Despair' Snares 20 'Credit Repair' Scammers).  You should also check out this article from CNNMoney.com called Avoiding Credit Repair Scams.

National Credit Associates is totally legit and has actually made good on it's $10,000 guarantee ... 4 times in the past 3 years, doing as many as 6000 restorations per month, according to CEO David Montanbeau.  This is not a scam in any sense of the word!  A $795 one-time fee may seem pricy, but you can find credit repair services that charge $1200 or more, and others that charge a monthly fee ... who knows how many months they will drag out their service.  There are also some cheaper, but no other credit restore service offers a $10,000 guarantee.  Also consider that  $795 is cheap when a good credit score can make the difference between owning or not owing a house, or getting a mortgage at a lower rate.  Remember, this is not credit repair, where derogatories will come back, this is credit restoration, where derogatories are permanently removed.

Sharon,I have always been leery of recommending a credit counseling firms when I heard they were owned by the credit card companies. I also believe there is no quick fix. Do You?

I tend to do things myself, but that's because I'm a catnapper and have a lot of time to do things myself. If I don't enjoy doing it, I'll hire someone else to do it. $795 sounds like a lot, but in the overall scheme of things if one tries to do it oneself, and assigns a dollar value to one's time, $795 might actually be cheap, providing they can do what they say they can do.

George - Interesting that you note NCA, Inc. is totally legit and has made good on their $10,000 guarantee ... 4 times in the past 3 years. A bit difficult to have done that, since they have not even been in business for 3 years.

Actually, if you had done your due diligence, you would have found that NCA, Inc. is NOT a registered credit services organization .. and furthermore they have only been in business since September 2008.

The original company.. National Credit Associates .. out of California has been in business since 2002.  Maybe this is the company you are thinking of which actually is "totally legit" as you state!
