that this country is still as divided as ever. It is no wonder why we are in the financial mess that we are when people won't even compromise one inch on their ideaologies. If ever in my lifetime there was a time to pitch in and just get the job done it is now.

When Ronald Reagan was President, the "Me Generation" was set on a course to ruin this country. The Forbes magazine list of the 400 richest people became more important than America's 500 largest companies. Binge buying and credit purchases became the mantra of "Shop until you drop" Our national debt more than doubled in just a scant three years.

We have now managed to have our debt soar under President Bush by some 5.7 trillion dollars which by the way was more money than all previous presidents combined.

President Obama has now also increased our debt.  He is at least trying to reduce it over the next four years. Mind you, he has only been in office for little over one month.

If you were a part of the "me generation' you are part of the problem. If you lived within your means and saved for a rainy day and ignored the pervailing selfishness of those times then you should be proud of what you once did. Now is the time to be proud again and put an end to the petty nonsense and bickering that is so prevalent and pitch in with whatever you have to help solve this mess or we won't have a divided country much longer. We simply won't be one country any longer.

Abraham Lincoln, ( much in vogue today) once said that "a house divided can not stand" It was true then and is true today.

So quit your whining and do your part to help your fellow man. Sometimes the medicine is worse than the disease.

John - It is very obvious you blame Republicans for all the wrongs in your life and you voted for the PrezBO.  By you Blog you are probably a liberal with socialist leanings and your remakes are not meant to unite us; but to tell conservatives to shut up.

Your comment: 'Sometimes the medicine is worse than the disease' is very astute.  Obama's spending bills - the medicine and the economy - the disease.

John, thanks for reminding us.  From my perspective the division stems from two things, those of us who recognize what bush did to this country are mad as hell, and  it will be a long time before we get over it.  On the flip side, Obama has given us hope that not all is lost.  The other thing is the right wing talk shows and the blogosphere are inciting their listeners and readers, not to accept anything from Obama.  To the point that Sean Hannity has posted on his website a question. " What kind of revolution would you like to see in this country?"  As long as the hate mongers have an audience, we will continue to be divided.

John- I agree that President Obama has only been in office for 1 month. I do not like the Stimulus though. It will cost way too mujch for what it accomplishes. All of his ideas seem to point to higher taxes. I do not like any polititican who includes pork in a bill and then says there is none. I do not like politicians who want to control us rather than get out of our way. I did not like that President Bush spent like he did and I wrote about it. Now while our President spends like a drunken sailor I will write about it.

Brian - I am glad that you are a realtor rather than a psychologist because you couldn't be any more wrong. I am fortunate that I have no wrongs in my life and I am a fiscal conservative with a healthy respect for certain social programs like healthcare for all. No where in my blog did I suggest anyone shut-up. I also believe in the right to free speech.  If you wish to speak do so constructively instead of tearing down someone whom you obviously know nothing about.

Terry - It is very sad that people have become so full of hate and are divided over issues that effect all Americans equally. Sooner or later we all have to realize that this country needs some reform and some new ideas. No party has the market cornered on either but I have seen a noticeable decline over the past 30 years in our way of life. The only thing we can do is to start working together on a solution. If certain hate mongers want to tear us apart then we need to learn to change the channel.

Kevin - I frankly don't like the stimulus either. Nor did I like the one that our previous President and Hank Paulsen pushed on us. However, I think we could agree on the fact that something needed to be done. Higher taxes is certainly not the solution, nor was lowering the tax rate by President Bush helpful as history has proven. There is no perfect solution but ignoring the problems won't make them go away.

As for pork, I again agree with you. 40% of the pork in this package was produced by Republican politicians. Therefore I am back to my original argument that we all need to work together to stop the insanity. If you don't wish to be controlled by politicians then you should be happier now that at least there is an effort to be transparent. Not including the cost of an ill advised war that was fought on false pretenses in our national budget certainly didn't help keep this country safe or strong.

Kevin, after reading your blog I have to say that I don't care what party you are with, people better stop pointing finger and get to work helping others to pull this great country out of this mess. That is why nothing gets done. We blame, blame, blame. When I was a kid if I would have complained about cleaning up my mess, my grandfather he would of hit me upside the head and told me to shut up and get to work. We need to get to work!
