Post Office Woes....

Well, the post office is complaining they will be heavily into the red again.  The new rate increase will NOT bring them into the black.  There is talk about going to a 5 day delivery.

I THOUGHT THAT 30 YEARS AGO!

In today's age of instant messaging, do we really need the mail on Saturday.  I see enough junk mail and bills all week long.  I can't remember the last time I received a letter through the mail.  I even get more E-Mail holiday cards that paper ones.

Stop and think of the energy this would save the country besides!  The only down side of this that I can see, is the loss of some jobs.  But considering the buyouts going on, I think the Post Office needs to think even harder about this.

But, the idea of no mail one day during the week is stupid...the workers would not get 2 days off in a row.  That is just dumb.

Post Master General...Think long and hard.  Eliminate Saturday service for the good of the country!!!

I agree 100%. I am getting tired of everythng and everyone being available 7 days a week. 2 days off, consecutively, should be mandatory for everyone!!!

The postal service is not what it used to be.  Carriers used to wear uniforms.  Now it appears to be HIP HOP.  I find my mail on my porch, lawn and in my driveway occasionally.  My neighbor also receives my mail.

A few years ago I submitted a complaint for lost mail.  The postal service lost my complaint.

Connie, I agree

Glen...Why doesn't that surprise me.  I get all my neighbors mail occasionally and they mine!

Having mail delivered 5-days a week instead of 6 would not cause any inconvenience.  There are way more positives than negatives.  This should have happened already.

William,

The Post Office has been trying to keep pace with an advancing technology, but I don't think they are succeeding. Rising costs are a byproduct of a reduced demand. :)

I agree. You can deliver mail once a week as far as I'm concerned :)...  I use electronic delivery for 99% of my communication/bills.

I could live with this, I think not getting the mail on Saturday would really be no big deal.
