Its oh so very easy to get swept up in accessory shopping and when there are sales, watch out! Sales shopping is like sailing the open seas it's exhilarating, liberating, and soaked in danger. Even the most seasoned shopper can get wrecked over a sale. Trapped on a shopping reef unable to stop the relentless flow of bric-a-brac cross the bow as wave after wave of accessories take it's toll on your your creative mind and heavily laden shopping cart. Your credit cards strain over the enormity of it all as you slowly maneuver through the check out lane; carefully avoiding the merchandised point of sale items singing their sirens song and the ruinous shoal of a maxed out credit card.

My last post was absorbed in the Pier One Imports Winter Clearance sale and for those of you who are familiar with Honolulu and it's armada of stores and shops, you might be aware that across the street from Pier One on the Makai side Ward Center is one of my favorite boutiques SoHa. SoHa is short for Southern Hawaii and it contains a great but somewhat pricey collection of designer household items from the South Pacific and South East Asia.

I love Hawaii and the beach.  One time I owned land right near the black sand beach.

These are really clever ideas for staging in Hawaii.  In Michigan they wouldn't go over too well :-(

Aloha Michelle, I can't get over the hook pillows myself, they are amazing and so durable.

Aloha Kimberley, so much time and resources is committed to combating the cold in cooler climes and despite the layers of clothing and strategically placed space heaters and ambient fireplaces you still end up shivering. Warm thoughts being sent your way.

Aloha Virginia, mahalo for commenting. Living on a island you are never too far from the ocean which means ocean inspired decor is almost always appropriate, I guess in Michigan nautical works but not tropical.

Aloha Melissa, The S&P shakers are pretty neat, and the pillows are hard to ignore. Mahalo for your comment.

Kimo, The pillows and the wall-hangings certainly do make a statement, great for creating memory when home shoppers have so many homes to look at. I'm sitting here in the Hamptons with the beach just feet away from me but were expecting 12" of snow! Thanks for brightening my evening!

Aloha Kimo, I love reading your posts. You really know how to paint a picture. I am sure your mind works in high gear when you are on a shopping trip. You probably look like I do. First your eyes start sparkling with excitement and then you are lost in a dream scape in your mind as you envision how you will use this with your existing inventory or create a whole new vignette. Good luck on your shopping adventure. :)

Aloha Allegra, mahalo for visiting. I heard you folks were in for a dumping. There's nothing quite as serene as a snow covered landscape, until you walk out your front door into a six foot drift. Warm tropical thoughts to you.

Aloha Michelle, I don't like to waist time shopping it's in and out with me. If see something I like and it's something I need and the price is right I buy it; if not I move on. I can move through a store in a flash but I process a lot mentally and that can be exhausting over time. Color matching is a big thing for me as are color palettes and themes. mahalo for commenting.

MORNING KIMO!  My middle name is Ululani (translation - Breadfruit) - I loved the wall hangings so I ordered the breadfruit design along with the others. I am not an artist but would like to paint or stain them a nice contrasting color to match the pattern on my blankets and other Hawaiian pillow cases.  Excellent post - it's staged nicely!  -- Gabrielle

Aloha Kamahele, Heavenly breatfruit to be exact! It's a beautiful pattern. I've never seen one that just features the leaves and not the fruit, very unusual. I'm so happy you ordered the wall hangings! Aloha nui.

Peace,

Accessories are my nemesis, but I love them & can't live ( or Stage) without them.  Yet alas, I need to go buy some more for a beach house I'm installing this week.  Thanks for the inspiration, I think I need to find some great pillows like those!
