Feng Shui It: Introduction. How To Improve ...

Home Stager with Dezigner Digz

Feng Shui [pronounced Fung Shway].  The name keeps appearing throughout the design industry in both print and on television.  Is it a trendy gimmick, or is there more to it?

Well, it certainly isn't the new kid on the block so to speak.  Feng Shui has been around for several thousand years since the time of the Han Dynasty in China.  It's definitely not a passing fad.

When I first signed up for training to become a Feng Shui Design Professional, I must admit that I was somewhat sceptical about all of this "Fung Shooey" stuff.  That being said, I felt that it would make a great addition to the services I offer my clients.  I couldn't be more pleased that in the process, I became a believer in how Feng Shui can enhance your life.  My interest is, of course, in the design aspect of Feng Shui.  Whether you are preparing your home for sale, or improving it for your own enjoyment, Feng Shui can play a role.

In this 8 part series, I will pass along some 'do-it-yourself' tips that you can try at home.  Of course, these pointers will just be little teasers.  If you want to know more, you'll have to contact me.  After all, if you give the milk away for free ...

Can wait!  I add this and what I have studied to my work when I can.  I also believe if we do not have our homes and offices in harmony we are not working to our potential or very efficently.

Where did you study Feng Shui?  Last week, I had a client ask me if I practiced Feng Shui design.  I'm considering looking in to it.

Charlene , I'm looking forward to your posts.  I have read several books, purchased some ed. CD's and subscribe to a couple of newsletters but still feel pretty much "in the dark."  It seems to me that there's A LOT of depth to understanding even the basics.

Charlene, I will be looking forward to the series as well.  I remember years ago wondering why so many people believed it was just a "passing fad."  Now I get contacts from all over because they believe in the principles and have seen it work!

Hi Charlene, Do you find that many people are interested in this service?  I too felt it was a "passing fad".  I've always understood it to be very specific and some aspects may not coincide with staging suggestions.  But I look forward to reading more about it in your blog tips here.

Hi Charlene, looking forward to your posts.

I had a Toronto architect come out in 1995 to do my business and home life. Well worth the investment and I became a believer then. As I always say, try it. If it works for you then keep doing it.

Cathy - Thanks!  So true and very well said about harmony!

Nancy - I took my training at the QC School of Design.  I have been doing lots of reading about Feng Shui on top of that, but there is still so much to learn!

Kathy - Thanks!  I hope these tips will be helpful.

Ginger - You are so right!  I think it's going to be an ongoing learning process.  It sure is interesting!

Melissa - Thanks so much!

Wendy - It sure is an interesting field.  I'm so glad that I've embarked on the journey to learn more about it.

Sheila - You're very welcome!

Margaret - Thanks!  I definitely feel that it's worth the investment of time both for my own benefit and hopefully for my clients.

Carole - I consider you the resident Feng Shui expert on Active Rain.  I hope I don't disappoint.  P.S.  I love your new profile picture!

Sandi - I was quite surprised at how many people brought up Feng Shui to me during home staging consultations.  I definitely don't think it's a passing fad - I did wonder about that too at one point.  You are right that there are some aspects that may not coincide with staging, but there definitely are some that do.

Michelle - What you said is so true and applicable to many areas of our life.  P.S.  Thank you for your email, I'm sorry I haven't responded yet.  I better get right on that!
