Papa Murphy's Baxter Here to Stay

pizzaWith the present economic troubles, we have lost a few Brainerd/Baxter businesses. I was pleased to hear that Papa Murphy's  in Baxter has made a committment to the area by buying the building that their business is in presently. We often purchase their delicious pizzas for take home to bake perfection. I will even stop in on a busy work day to get a salad to eat at my desk at Keller Williams Realty Brainerd Lakes where I am a REALTOR/Staging Specialist. Yes, I usually work right through lunch but if you have a home you want to list or buy - we can eat lunch out or just have coffee.  Brainerd/Baxter has many places for that as well.

Yum...we had a great Papa Murphy's in our last location but nothing here.  Wish someone would open one up here.  The fact that they bought the building is a pretty good indication of their intentions!

I may be old school but its weird to me to get pizza (Italian food) from an Irishman... It's like getting Haggis from an Italian, just not quite right.

Betina - pizzas was once the food of peasants but now peasants probably can't afford it!

The word "pizza" is thought to have come from the Latin word pinsa, meaning flatbread (although there is much debate about the origin of the word). A legend suggests that Roman soldiers gained a taste for Jewish Matzoth while stationed in Roman occupied Palestine and developed a similar food after returning home. However a recent archeological discovery has found a preserved Bronze Age pizza in the Veneto region. By the Middle Ages these early pizzas started to take on a more modern look and taste. The peasantry of the time used what few ingredients they could get their hands on to produce the modern pizza dough and topped it with olive oil and herbs.

Hi Kathleen—I had to stop by when I saw the name Baxter in your title because my family name is Baxter plus my mom's name is Kathleen... so this is a winning combo for me. I also love pizza and believe in supporting local busnesses in my community so IF I lived where you do I'd be at Papa Baxter's at least once a week! Thanks and have a great week.

Linda - funny how these posts trigger different reponses in different people. If I lived where you live I would be kissing a dolphin.
