BlackBerry As A Modem For Your Laptop, Carol Wills, Deep Creek Lake

By
Real Estate Agent with Railey Realty

As I continue to embrace as much technology as I can, I found myself almost begging my husband Ted to share some technology secrets that I have not used.  Since I am trying to loose weight and it is hard to find fresh flowers without spending a large amount of money, in Deep Creek Lake, I decided to forgo the usual Valentine's Day gifts and have Ted show me some "New, Newer, Stuff" on the technology front. Now grant you, it is not a new subject for me, as he tried to show me this months ago. I was simply ready to listen and without having at hand my wireless card, it was information I thought would come in handy.

His gift was showing me how to set up my BlackBerry as a Modem for my Laptop.  Now I can assure you it is really slow but in a pinch and I mean a pinch, I would use it. He pulls out a 2 page instruction sheet and says here you go.  Of course that simply was not going to work with me.  So, he set it all up and it works great, But SLOW.

Instead of trying to explain how to go about all this, all you have to do is Google.

Have fun!

Blackberry is a remarkable tool. I'd be lost without mine.

Carol, now that sounds like a great valentine's gift!  Much better than fattening candy or flowers that die in a few days!

It's a great tool to use in a clutch as noted above.  Many people are soley using BAM for their Internet access period. I still can not live with my fast cable modem connection. However, for the average Internet user it should work well.  There's been the complaint that BlackBerry as a modem can be expensive per month however you options to use such software to beat that montly fee like  Shark Modem  There's tons of stories on the Internet how people have gone to the airport and motel and didn't want to pay the higher Internet usage prices. They were able to use their BlackBerry and laptop to get on the net to avoid the charges.  I support the idea of using the BlackBerry as a modem.  Great Article Carol.
