Is Localism fully functional yet?

Just wondering..

Just wondering in part because of a comment on a post I wrote on February 21, 2009.

The comment by March 2009 CalendarJonathan Washburn*  Comment #28  says in part:

"I am very confident Localism will be fully functional this week.  It was a much bigger project than we expected, but we have been working very diligently on it and believe it is getting close to reaching the next level. As it stands today it is getting a lot of consumer traffic; I just believe it has a lot of room to grow."

Jonathan's comment is on  a post I wrote about why ActiveRain is failing (and I really, really don't believe it is...) Six reason why ActiveRain is losing its way...  It's about the changes in ActiveRain effective February 16, 2009 at 5 A.M.  PST and the change in ActiveRain's nearly three years now.

OK it's March 2, 2009... the next week... did it happen? Is Localism fully functional?

If not how will we know when Localism is fully functional? ... just wondering...

On an unrelated note:

Cool beans... OK this is not Localism this is ActiveRain.  Did you know there is a permalink for the comment now? Click on the Jonathan Washburn link above... that is not a link to my post.. that is not a link to Jonathan's profile... that is a link to comment #28 on my February 21, 2009 post... that's the link to where Jonathan said that he was confident Localism would be fully functional "this week..." which was last week...

How cool is that?

I'm clueless...I've been paying for months and feel that I'm paying for a link, but that's about it.  I'm hopeful that it'll get moving here quickly.

Hi Maureen ~ I just have to thank you for pointing out the permalink on comments. Wow! I can't keep up.  And it's so funny the way you stumble across the info in posts on other topics. I found out about where the edit function on comments had moved to by reading a completely unrelated post the other day. Keeps us on our toes.

SWEET on the permalink!  I just posted yesterday about the limit of characters in the ABOUT section when you are a sponsor of a community - uugghh!  I really hope they revisit that!

Larry As I sit here wearing my "I SURVIVED THE LOCALISM LAND-RUSH" T-Shirt... (dropped most of the communities I sponsored  months later) I remember all the hoopla then, THE LOCALISM LAND-RUSH... and wonder if confetti will fall from the sky or trumpet's blare when Localism becomes fully functional... or if "fully functional" will even be discernable to those participating.

Liz I started to ask I think on Brad's post about the badges... when the numbers appeared if we would be able to link to a comment, and I think I tried it that day or the next and it did not work.  I thought to try again today.. it works.  Makes a lot of sense in carrying on a conversation across the network, blog to blog, to me.

Leesa Posting the community profiles was alway a nightmare but I had to redo one from scratch a week or so ago. When I got in a snit over how pokey Localism was I deleted all my communities.

I think now it is even more difficult to do the "About." than it was whenever The Land-Rush was.... The word count on Locoalism  kept telling me I was way over, I was using another editing  tool that told me a totally different word count.   What a nightmare.  My description for Worthington sucks.

Maureen, I was talking to Brad last week about something else and he mentioned Localism - he used the analogy of working on it is like remodeling a house you are living in. They want to work in the kitchen but they have to stop because you want to cook dinner. He is very excited about it once they get it where they want it to be. Meanwhile, if we keep adding local posts we're going to have a lot of content whenever it is really ready to rock!

I know that it isn't.  I am a community sponsor and my sponsorships no longer show up.  I've been into my account and see that I have been charged for my communities and that the descriptions that I wrote are still there but not visible page.  I've emailed but told the same thing that everything would be functional soon.

gee I am glad to see some people whose names do not start with L showing up...

Sharon (or Frank) I like the analogy.  The first Localism was introduced in the fall of 2006?   The new Localism was announced in July 2008?  I guess since they sold the communities in August I was expecting it to be viable a lot sooner.   They had to know we were going to be using the kitchen...

I don't believe they have done a good job of keeping us informed about Localism.  Yet when they do say X should be done by such and such a date... a day after someone (like me) is saying, Is it done yet?

Cindy you have more patience than I do.

I bought my communities and posted the descriptions and have been patiently waiting.  I have faith in AR, they have been a winner so far.
