Has everyone in Texas Forgoten this dayOn March 2, 1836 The Texas Declaration of Independence was signed by the Delegates of the People of Texas in General Convention at the town of Washington now known as Washington on the Brazos.  Additionally they drew up a constitution and created an interim government.

Those who served in this government until October when elections could be held were:

  •    David G. Burnet, President
  •    Lorenzo de Zavala, Vice-president
  •    Samuel P. Carson, Secretary of State
  •    Thomas J. Rusk, Secretary of War
  •    Bailey Hardeman, Secretary of Treasury
  •    David Thomas, Attorney General

On March 17th with Santa Anna on the way, the convention dismissed. After what that rascal did to us

at the        our brave leaders knew what had to be done next and they did it.

Yeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!!!
