No, it's not easy keeping your home in ready-to-show condition. You do live there and the house will naturally have a lived-in look. What can you do when your house isn't really in showcase condition and the phone rings and the buyers are coming soon?! Don't panic and follow these ideas for quick clutter control:

  • Keep large hampers, baskets or totes to use as a quicik hiding spot for clothes, toys, etc.
  • Stack magazines, books, newspapers in neat piles or arrange in baskets - (You can always sort and organize later).
  • Once the floors and countertops are cleared off - dust quickly and wipe the countertops with a damp cloth.
  • Buyers are known for opening cupboards and maybe even the oven - so some quick and unlikely places to stow the totes and baskets could be under the bed or maybe even in your car.
