I said. "Grab the fish net!"  I love the enthusiasm in her voice.  "Could I keep one for a pet??" was her next querry.  "I guess so... as long as we let him go when he gets bigger.  I think he might miss his home," I replied.

We had a great time feeding bread to the ducks, and then some crumbs to the minnows.  It took almost 30 minutes, but my daughter caught one adorable minnow, which we quickly placed in a cup of pond water.  "Darter" as she affectionately named him is too cute!  He is living up to his name, too, darting around the water-filled tupperware container.  I LOVE these sweet moments with my cutie.  I realize that all too quickly she'll be grown up, but I hope she has fond memories of homemade cookies and trips to the duck pond.  I LOVE my job as a realtor, but I sure LOVE my job as "mommy" as well!!

Sonja,

Thanks for the glimpse into your world. I followed you here from comment you made on my blog yesterday, Chuck E. Cheese. Yes, we have the greatest jobs in the world. We can schedule time with family and still do our jobs.  A few years ago one of my agents picked up a client while watching her son's football game.  She was sitting in the bleachers with her calendar and cell phone making appts.  The couple next her asked if she was a Realtor and eventually listed & sold their house.  Making $$$ while being a mother.  What can be better?  Have a great day.

I will subscribe to your blog and ask you to do the same for me.  Ask Mary

Marchel, I'm with you!  The mommy job is #1.  I feel extremely blessed to have my 2 kiddos. :)

Georgina, I'm glad I could share our story.  Darter now has 5 other friends in his new home. Since my daughter had so much fun adopting one, she caught 6 more, and gave 2 to neighbors.  The fish love eating pond vegetation and seem quite happy.  At some point, they will need to return to their natural habitat, but for now they are darting about the bowl!

Mary, I have subscribed!  I agree!! Making $$ while being mom IS nice!!  I am so glad I don't have to battle the traffic so many do here in the Houston area.  It is not unusual for people to have a 45-60 min. drive one way!  I primarily office from home, but my RE/MAX office is just 2 miles away!! What a blessing!
