Say It Ain't So...Sheriff Sale!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Main St. Realty

I had the listing of all listings.  The 'one' you heard about from other agents.  The nightmare, the headache, the frustration.  The one that made you ask yourself, "why again am I in this business?"

Just this week, I found out that my listing was sold at Sheriff Sale.

This particular property was a short sale, and had been on the market for 2 years.  I had a qualified buyer ready to go in 2008, but it took the bank about 9 months to make a decision.  At that point the buyer walked.  I spent countless hours on the phone with the bank, who at times had no idea what was going on or with whom I should speak.  I checked in often for status updates.

Despite the drama, I was determined to see this through.  I had learned so much and desired the end result.

It's embarrasing how I found out about the sale.  I called an agent for showing feedback and he informed me that the property had been sold last week!  The bank had bought the property back and their agent was quick to call me to notify me that he would be listing the property.  Gulp!

I have decided to take this as a learning experience and not let myself get down and depressed.  It was a roller coaster ride, but I came out in the end with tons of knowledge and 3 new buyers this month alone from my yard sign.  This market is unique and we all can learn from it.  Let's keep educating ourselves and our clients!

It's a good life!

Kate..that is a good attitude, we do need to see these situations as learning experiences if we didn't we would be paralyzed by the unknown event that we have no control over.
