CASTLE ROCK, COLORADO NEAR THE TOP OF BEST AFFORDABLE SUBURBS LIST
Business Week Online has recently published a list of the 25 Best Affordable suburbs in the nation. The cities picked were based on affordability, safety, schools and culture, distance to a larger city.
Located in Douglas County, Castle Rock, CO has long been known for its quaint neighborhood feel away from the big city - but still close enough to commute - and now the rest of the nation will know as well just how affordable & great it is. The article quotes the median home price at $240,000, which as well all know can vary a bit based on when the number was pulled.
If you are looking for a home in Castle Rock, here are some current stats. Personally, I feel that number from the article to be a bit low as a median real estate figure and I have to wonder exactly when they pulled it. With the amount of new construction in Castle Rock too, which most likely was not included in the study of prices, the number is going to be a bit higher. However with that said - there are still a great number of very affordable properties available in Castle Rock. I even showed many of them this week to a buyer moving from another Colorado suburb, Highlands Ranch.
At the time of writing this blog, there are currently 992 total available properties in Castle Rock listed in the MLS (may not include some new construction or FSB0). 110 of those properties are from $220,00 to $260,000.
In addition to affordability, other features they make Castle Rock a wonderful place to call home are:
- Quaint small town feel
- Douglas County Schools
- Abundant park and recreation opportunities
- Beautiful Weather
- Great convenient location between Denver and Colorado Springs
- Abundant natural beauty
2 other suburbs in Colorado were ranked nationally on this list, Fort Collins and Louisville.
