Trump Baja folds, investors lose millions

By

Ah, lucky we live Hawaii. Investors purchasing at the Trump Baja project in Northern Mexico, just South of San Diego lost more than $32,000,000.00 in deposits recently when the Trump/Irongate venture folded. According to the article, all of the down payments have already been spent by the developer.

At the Beach Villa's sales event, your deposit is being held by a third party escrow company, not by the developer Centex. Also, the Beach Villa's project is completed, you can touch it, feel it, see it and walk in it. Unfortunately, not the same outcome for those unfortunate US buyers who thought they were making a solid investment in Mexico.

We could have been one of them as we went down and looked at Trump Baja. Luckily, we purchased at the Beach Villa's.

Aloha, Alfred--

wow that is terrible for those who put up the money on deposit.  You can be assured that it isnt Trump who lost money on the project, that guy has teflon hair.

Yup your right, only his name was lent to the project. I see lots of lawsuits with Trump, Irongate and S & P Destination Properties. Yikes.

It remains to be seen if the buyers will be compensated for their deposits either by return of their funds or as a credit to another project.

I hope the buyers will receive their deposits. That certainly would be the right thing to do.

Well the turkeys have come home to roost. No refunds for buyers after all. Homeowners are now suing Trump, Irongate and S & P Destination Properties.

This is as I predicted on March 6th, I might add....

That would really suck.  I hope this doesn't happen here.
