Professionalism is carrying yourself in such a manner to where you always have your client's interest at heart and you maintain your composure in times of stress.

Professionalism is when it comes naturally, without having to think about it.

It is the way you conduct yourself and your business. It is implied by many things. The sum of which equals a professional. Things such as appearance, phone manners, writing and use of the language, knowledge of the product/products, ethics, and a whole host of other items all contribute to being a professional (including peers). The lack of any one will not in and of itself mean non professional. If a four legged animal with horns is a cow does that make all four legged animals with horns cows??

I believe professionalism consists of many attributes as stated above. It is also an attitude which says, I will be and do the best I can today, for myself, my client and those who I come in contact with. It is a growth process. We all know what was condidered professional 10 years ago, has changed. Clients used to expect to come to our fancy office, men wore a suit and tie; women, skirt or dress. Today, we have some clients whose only expectation is that we can conduct our business from anywhere, making it easy for them. To that client, we are the consummate professional.

Professionalism, to me, is demonstrating a thorough command of your business while placing the clients interests foremost in your objectives.  You must ensure that your clients needs are satisfactorily met regardless of your wants and needs.

By putting them first, you will earn their respect and future referrals.
