Today was a GREAT DAY for Richmond County Realtors from Exit Realty Platinum as they attended the Regional Awards Banquet for Exit Realty. Broker/Owners Tim and Nicole Hayden as well as agents Bobby Chambers, Marc Baysek, and Jami Smart were in attendance as both Regional and National Speakers Key Yassad, Tami Bonell and Bob Mckinnon were there to work with agents on helping their clients move their real estate faster and easier. Exit Realty Platinum was awarded the Pinnacle Award for the highest per agent productivity in North Carolina which means alot to me as it takes everyone working together to accomplish this feat!

Always striving to become better at client relationships and market trends, the speaker/trainers did a wonderful job of getting the word out that their is good news in the real estate market contrary to what mainstream media would have you believe. According to the NAHB/Wells Fargo affordability index:
"Nationwide housing affordability surged at year-end 2008 to its highest level in at least five years, according to the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI).
The HOI indicated that 62.4 percent of all new and existing homes that were sold in the final quarter of 2008 were affordable to families earning the national median income of $61,500, up considerably from the 56.1 percent of homes that were affordable to such families in the previous quarter and the 46.6 percent of homes that were affordable to them at the end of 2007. "Falling home prices and very favorable mortgage rates both contributed to the housing affordability gains we saw in the fourth quarter of 2008," said NAHB Chairman Joe Robson, a home builder from Tulsa, Okla. "However, at the same time, worsening economic conditions, historically low consumer confidence and uncertainty about future home prices kept many qualified buyers on the sidelines." While credit is seeing some tightening underwriting standards, interest rates are at historic lows which are allowing buyers to get more home now than they will be able to get as rates begin to rise. First Time homebuyers are also seeing opportunity as they find they can buy a home very close to what they have been paying in rent and begin building equity.
