DAVIE's - TREE TOPS PARK
Dating back to 1565, Homes in Davie are so lucky to be within walking distance to Tree Tops Park. The park features nature and equestrian trails that make their way through woodlands of live oak. These trails total about two miles. Part of the trail makes up 23 acres of wetland.
"The observation decks along the marsh are perfect for observing both songbirds and water fowl, in addition to turtles and a variety of dragonflies and damselflies," says park naturalist Danielle Daut. Pine Island Ridge is located on the north of Tree Tops Park and is accessible through the park entrance on 100th Avenue. Some activities would be the equestrian trail, earthen nature trail, paved bicycle and hiking trails, an interpretive shelter and oak and slash-pine forests.
Approximately 108 different birds have been sighted in the park and park naturalists have noted 16 different mammals, 12 species of reptiles and 3 amphibians. The University of Florida's department of zoology has recorded 54 species of butterflies on the ridge considered large and uncommon to any area throughout Florida.
Horseback riding is one of the most popular activities at Tree Tops. There are more than seven miles of designated horse trails that will accommodate horseback riders and energetic hikers alike. For really young riders, ponies are available.
