Well folks, here's my weekly dining out post. Unfortunately, I am back on my diet. Somehow all that eating out has made my clothes fit a bit tighter and I am determined to nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand, so this weeks dining out location has been limited to Eatzi’s located at 3500 Oak Lawn Avenue in Dallas.
For those who have never been to Eatzi’s it is a market style extravaganza (with limited indoor and patio seating)! They have everything from prepared foods (hot and cold) which are available as pre-made grab & go items as well as packed to order, fresh made to order sandwiches, salads, pastas, soups, fresh baked breads in more varieties than you can count, and freshly prepared cakes and desserts. They also have a great selection of wines, flowers and deli meats and cheeses.
If you are going to eat yummy, and not on a diet, head over to the massive glass cases in the center of the store, and check out the huge selection of prepared meats, vegetables and salads. The Bombay Curry Chicken & Pasta Salad is wonderful, the hummus is some of the best I have had, and their coconut chicken is delicious too. Also pick up a loaf of the Sundried Tomato or White Chocolate Apricot Bread. These days (darn that diet) I am limited to multigrain bread for toast in the morning, but even that is fresh and delicious.
For me, being on a diet, the beauty of Eatzi’s is that they have a wonderful area where they will craft a salad to your specific specifications. I can choose what kind of greens I want (I usually get Romaine or Field Greens) and just about any toppings you could imagine from veggies, proteins, cheeses and dressings. I stay mostly with veggies, but usually add a freshly diced chicken breast and their homemade (and very flavorful) fat-free Tomato Basil dressing. There are so many options that I can literally get a salad every night and not feel like I am eating the same thing each night.
The key to Eatzi’s is that there is literally something for everyone; it’s very tasty and easy to take home and serve. What’s even better is you can dine as decadently or as restrictively as you or your diet requires. Being open until 10:00 at night, it is also a great option for a late dinner or a day when you have taken a late lunch. Check out Eatzi’s… the variety, quality and freshness will win you over instantly!
