fun in the sun

Real Estate Agent with Deem Realty

The season for selling has started here on the island. The weather is hot, the water is calling and this is the last weekend of the historical homes tour.  Buyer and lookers are all over the island and I showed 3 condo's yesterday, all 3 on the seawall, all 3 to people from Houston who want a second home over looking the gulf and all over 300K.  The middle class is dieing on the island. I just sold an unlivable fixer-upper for 90K.

I have only been a Realtor for about 18 months and I can tell you it has been a roller coaster trip from the very beginning. As this is my second job, I work 37.5 hours week as an health claims examiner and there is not enough time in the day to get it all done, but I love houses and helping others find their perfect space.

Good luck with your business. Hopefully one day you can do real estate full time. That is when you will see the true rewards.

Raynelle,

Real estate is tough enough to do full-time, let alone trying it part time. Hang in there and try to be a sponge, learning as much as you possibily can!  You education is absolutely essential for longevity.  It's been 30+ years for me.

As a native Houstonian, I've never thought that "BOI" was very friendly.  It's like you're saying you belong to an exclusive club that we could never hope to join.

We/I aren't as impressed that you were BOI as your fellow Galveston natives, and, since most of your sales $$$ are coming from Houston, your real estate business would do better if you left this out of your marketing ads/blogs etc...
