How Long Must We Suffer?

By

I have had this flu since Monday and see no real signs of getting better. My son started coming down with it on Saturday, then my husband got it Sunday and I followed suit Monday. Thank goodness our daughter has not gotten it yet!

My question for everyone is: How long must we suffer with this? I know that it is going around everywhere. I've spoken with people in ID, CA and locally (Spokane, WA) and it seems to be hitting a lot of people.

I am two days behind my son and he has had a fever again today and is still not feeling well. I don't know if it is a good thing that we are all down with it at the same time (it makes it difficult to get food, juice, etc for the kids) or if it would have been better if we had gotten sick one after the other so one of us was healthy to take care of the others.

I took another really hot shower a bit ago which helped a little and allowed me to get on AR (yea!) but I need to crawl back into bed again.  I am in awe of how much I have slept in the last few days.

I really hope that I get some positive feedback, but any feedback is appreciated. At least then I will know what to expect. Stay healthy out there!

PS. There should have been a cute little clipart on here but it didn't cooperate and I am too tired to work with it further! :-)

There are two things that I take when I start to feel bad, like I am coming down with something. The first, is Airborne. I take it 3x per day. The other is Tabasco. I take 1 tbsp in the morning and another at night. It always gets me through the cold and flu season. If I catch it in time with these 2 items, I never get worse. Its amazing!

I haven't been sick in the longest of time. I read this book called natural cures what they don't want you to know. Such an eye opener and lot's of natural home remedies. Pick it up at your local book store for about $8. All you can do now is ride it out and get your bodies healthy enough to block it next time. Hope you and your family get well soon!

Libby:  I cannot tell from your story how old you are, but if I guess from your picture, you seem like a "youngster."  I can remember a long time ago when the two of us... young marrieds... passed a cold,flue,whatever... back and forth SEVEN times.  It took that long until the darn thing... whatever it was... went away.  Of course... we did NOT help the situation... as we continued to sleep together while one of us was sick... and did the typical amount of "snuggling" and such... as one might guess... in wanting to "comfort" the other.  So... if my experience holds true... ya better order a case or two of chicken soup.  Take care... get better...

Doug-Tabasco huh? I don't know if my wimpy taste buds could take that but if it was just for a day or so I may be able to do it! I have Airborne but think it may be too late to use it now. I forgot about that.

Winston- I have heard of that book I think. Isn't it by Kevin Treudeau? (I think I butchered his last name!) Does it have remedies for before you get sick or things to do at the on-set?

Karen- That is one of my fears, that we will continue to pass it around. I have not heard of it being passed back and forth that many times and can't imagine going through what you did! I hope that, since three of us have it now, we will be done and our daughter will somehow make it through this without getting it. I am trying to keep her rested and pumping her full of fluids in hopes that she won't get it.

Now I really am crawling into bed! I have slept so much today that my schedule is totally out of whack! I just took some Tylenol Warming Cold Multi-Symptom medicine and hope it does what it says. If it does, I should get some great sleep! If the effect of the medicine directly correlates with the bad taste, I should get better in no time!

This is a nasty little flu that does take some time to recover from. I slept on and off for the first two days. The only reason to wake up was to check a HUD statement and work on the corrections needed and to go to closing the next day. It took an additional 2 days to shake off the fog in my head and another 3 days to fill like my normal self.

Libby, I usually get a flu shot every year and have been fortunate enough to stay away for the flu. I hope you and your family get better.

Denise- so it sounds like about a week or so. We are coming up on that. I actually feel much better today (after sleeping for 12 hours!) and feel like I can function a bit though I am exhausted.

Michael-I just mentioned that to my husband last night. We get the flu shot every year except, you guessed it, this year! I will not make that mistake again. Even if I do get sick, it doesn't hit quite as hard or last as long with the flu shot. Thanks for the well wishes!

Libby, I know this year's flu has been knocking people out for a longer time for some reason...I don't have much advice for you except to use a humidifier and vicks (I do the old fashioned things).  I do hope you feel better very soon!

Libby,

Chicken soup is a cure all.  I had this too and I NEVER get sick.  I went to the doctor and received antibiotics and was feeling much better after the first day.  My daughter took about 2 days.  I had a fever and was feeling lousy!

Healing prayers sent your way,

I am fortunate, knock, knock, knock, that I've not caught this thing yet.  Everyone else in my family did though not at the same time but it only took them about 4 days to kick it.  I guess that means a lunch date is out of the question for a couple more weeks.  I don't want to be anywhere close to you until you are ALL better.  You know of course that doesn't mean I don't still love ya!

I know you have your blessed mom but let me know if you need anything.  I'll have Troy stop by.

Thank you all for the great advice!I am feeling better but I am still exhausted about half way through the day. I'm sure this will get better the more I eat and do each day. My hubby is back at work and my son is back to school this week. I hope that everyone takes care and stays healthy. I will continue to get sleep, drink fluids and I will be getting a flu shot next year for sure. (We skipped them this year because I forgot to get them!)

Libby:  I know being sick for so long..."is nothing to sneeze at."  LOL.  I am so glad that you are feeling better.  Chicken soup conquers all.  Take care...
