Obama will 'not' help Realtors

Dear Agents

If you are hoping President Obama will provide direct assistance to Realtors, you're in for disappointment. Realtors are the last group of people on his mind.

  • But it should not be that way... considering over 1,000,000 people are Realtors in the USA.

Imagine a company with 1,000,000 employees and suddenly finding themselves in financial trouble. You can bet your bottom dollar financial assistance would be provided to the tune of billions of dollars.

So why will Realtors be left out?

The reason is NAR. They have simply dropped the ball when it comes to representing agents. They could have easily requested direct financial aid on behalf of its membership, such as:

1. Fee reduction

2. Fee reimbursement

3. Fee tax credits

4. MLS fee reimbursements

5. Educational incentives

6. Loan guarantees for business related expenses

7. Income protection fund

Conclusion

But no... agents are still viewed as sources of income by Brokers, local MLS boards and NAR.

Maybe it is time for agents to unionize... so they can control their own voice in economic and governmental matters.

Until then... the best you can expect is the $8000 buyer tax credit, delays in foreclosures, and offers of help to homeowners in trouble. But for agents, it's either sink or swim.

P.S.

This is nothing new... in every recession agents are left out.

I have not read one article on on AR where any of the stimulus including the 8K credit helped.
