Clutter, Clutter, Everywhere!???

Planning on selling your home soon?  Then the first thing you want to do is look for cluttered spaces.

This is a "big thing" to potential buyers.  It is very hard for them to actually focus on the home and what it has to offer if they can't see past the clutter inside closets, in the kitchen, storage area, too much funrniture in small rooms.

I suggest that you start with the kitchen first.  It is the easy place to start. Get everything off the counters first.  Even small appliances, put them in the cabinets.  Clean out junk drawers, eliminate items that you seldom use and box them up and place into storage.  You are moving anyway so start packing.  Make sure you even clean out under the kitchen sink.  Make sure there are no leaky pipes under there as well.

Furniture clutter is the next big item.  Sometimes small areas  need to have less furniture in them so they appear bigger.  Go ahead and remove as much of the furniture in the home as possible to make the home feel open and spacious.  Remove personal items as well such as family photos, nick naks, etc.

You want the home to be inviting and allow potential buyers to be able to visualize their belongings there.

Rent a POD storage unit, fill it up with items you can do without for now. Have the POD company store it and when you move into your new home have it delivered.

PODS are great but often times you don't need 16 feet of storage to declutter. Consider some of the other mobile storage providers who offer smaller units. You can find a local company at ms-sa.org
