I went over to a friends house today and we were discussing the real estate market and what is happening with the lending guidelines and housing values. It was interesting to me because as I listened to him, I realized how much the residential real estate business has changed in the last year.
Also, what struck me is how real estate is done based on personal relationships that are made between the Realtor and the client. So many times, the assumption is that business is done based on the real estate company and not the relationships that are built on a person to person basis.

This is a link to a blog that I found on the web through youtube. The blogger has written many books and seems to know a lot about customer service. I found some of the things that he wrote about to be interesting. I like what he says about "dips" in business. He also talks a lot about being a winner in the business world and what that looks like.
This topic makes me think about an incident that happened to me last week. When I was at the rec center sitting in the hot tub while my kids were taking a youth class and my hubby was not there yet... I was taken by a woman instuctor that was across the pool from me. She was clapping while about 20 people were walking in the pool (lazy river) and listening to her coaching and instruction. I thought to myself, "she looks like she is really into this group of people and meeting their physical workout needs." The teacher was enthusiastic and you could tell that the people taking her class were listening to her instruction. She seemed to care about the lesson, people, and the class and had a genuine positive attitude.
This instructor is an illustration of how I need to be or the Realtors in general need to be when we are coaching our sellers through a transaction or when a buyer gets nervous before closing. How about when a seller looks at you with tears in his eyes and says, "we are about to go into foreclosure and I don't really know what to do next...". What a great example of a leader with a heart for her people...She inspired me.

Hey Mindy,
This is an excellent post! In the end, I agree with you 100% that attitude is everything. I love your example of the swimming instructor. In the end, what she is doing and saying is applicable to any job or any industry. The same philosophy applies. It's posts like yours that make me repeat to myself that I must stay positive. Thanks so much!!!

Thanks, Mindy. That's a good example to keep in mind, and I agree ... it's all about relationships.
