TN Driver's License Renewal

Need to renew your TN driver's license?  It's as easy as www.tennessee.gov.  I, like so many others I'm sure, found myself with an expired license.  My expiration date was on March 1st and on March 9th I had this "OH NO" realization that I was driving on an expired license.  I really didn't have time to drive to the driver license station to renew in person, and knew that it was too late to try by regular mail (snail mail).  My third option, and favorite, was to go on line.  I was just hoping that being past due wouldn't be a problem.  To my surprise, you could be up to 5 years expired and still renew online.  That was a little alarming, but that's for another post.

Here is a step by step on how to renew online...  First, visit Tennessee's web site at: www.tennessee.gov .  Second, in the middle of the page, click on Driver Online Services.  Third, choose the first link, Renew Your Driver License.  Then continue to Next.  It is just that easy.  You will get a temporary to print from your computer and your new drivers license will be mailed to you.

I was very impressed with the service and easy of Tennessee's online service.

Susan - I also think it's alarming that you can get your drivers license online long after it's expired. It seems like your most important identification document should be a little more secure.

So, I guess it was your birthday on March 1st.  :)  Our licenses expire on our birthdays.  That is one way to help us remember.  All we have to remember is the year.
