I just joined it because I was told it was important to my business, but I don't really "get it" yet. I am so new to AR and FB and don't have a clue where to go from here, so i will be keeping up with this topic. Even the lingo is foreign to me. I spend so much time reading the posts and comments that I feel like I am spinning my wheels and wasting time. Maybe I'll learn something here.
Did you add you picture and complete your profile?
In your area, it may be good to build a referral network of agents from other areas. Join the RE/MAX International group and invite some of the agents to be friends. Set up a Facebook group for each of your interests.

Sheila, I got "busy" on AR in Jan. I am soooo addicted. There is so much info. I may get info overload. Be sure to do your posts and comments on others as well. When you get on Twitter (next haha, follow me at LakeNormanHomes), I promise it will be GOOD for you. But balance your time. When you see posts that are really of interest be sure to "subscribe" to it. When you see people you may want to refer to mark tham as an associate. GOOD LUCK and email me if I can help. But remember I'm learning too. Your Lake Norman Realtor with a heart for service.
Roy and Wendy, thank you for your suggestions. I did change my profile and updated my photo --boy, it sure was time! I plan to join the RE/MAX group and look for posts that help, like "Facebook Tips". I don't think i will take on too many tasks yet.
Roy, I'll check your blog.
Wendy, how do I "mark them as an associate"?
thanks again.
Sheila, I feel like you do, so much to wrap my head around. The only way to do it, I've realized, is to jump in and spend the time when I can.
Hi Sheila,
I am also a newbie. i have been on ar for a few weeks and fb for 5 weeks. I am on overload. But I love it. There is so much to learn, I have been spending a lot of time reading on at. there is so much info. Good luck and welcome!!
Kate, thank you for the advice. I appreciate your time to comment. I need to join and follow AR Newbies and learn more. Do you know the answer to this question?: how do you know who to choose as your Associates and add them (for referrals, etc)?
Sheila - I am just getting used to all this facebook and twitter stuff myself. It's funny that none of these sites ever have instructions. You just have to learn by trial and error. Good luck, I do think these things will be beneficial in the long run.
Troy & Mia, thanks for your input. It is a "trial & error" process for me. I guess i will keep researching and reading blogs while i "find my way" around. It appears you are doing the right things. Good luck this year and remember me for Outer Banks, NC (and northeastern NC) real estate referrals. Thanks
I'm relatively new to FB myself and it is a lot of information to take in but I think we're lucky in our industry that there are free tools that help us continue to develop our skills. It's just a matter of investing the time. Time spent reading on AR will pay for itself before you know it! Welcome.
