Yesterday was our first 'infogathering' presentation for first-time home buyers 'The Road Map to Homeownership' . It was a fun and informative evening. Since it was St. Pat's Day we had a some green on our tables in a form of shiny shamrocks but most of the participants were interested in the different kind of green - hard green in a form of money.
There is a huge need for information on the process of first time home buying. Of course, there is a great deal of data available on the Internet. However, from my observation I can definitely conclude that what's really needed is 'presifted', proven and condensed version of the process.
The 'infogathering' was presented in a very casual and at ease atmosphere. I thought that this format will encourage the audience participation and create a very open and friendly environment to ask questions. And that is exactly what's happened. Lots of 'very creative' questions popped up ... 'can she buy 50% of the house and I the other 50% so we will not pay the PMI'? ... lots of scenarios about saving the money, about credit scores, what to do to keep the highest score, process of buying, how to grow your wealth, about $8000 Tax Credit etc...
We covered a lot of territory with help of my business friends from First American Mortgage in Yukon, Scott Champlain, from First American Title, Don Neilen and builder and land developer, Buster Elliott.
All of us had a great time...a couple of hours went very fast.
Good times go fast ... when you have fun and making new friends...
Thank you all for your hard work!
With smiles,
Bo
