Hi everyone,
This is Pete and I'm new to AR as a Realtor, though I've been reading others' AR blogs for a few months now and I must say I do love this network. It's absolutely great! The down side is that I've found it can occupy quite a bit of valuable time, especially in this precious business-building period I'm in. That is specifically why I waited a full week of being officially on the job before joining AR and writing this very first of many posts to come.... That and I've been so busy just getting my business started that I completely forgot about AR during the first week! Imagine that...
My licensing instructor, Chris, coolly informed the entire class not to worry about having nothing to do in the first few weeks or even months of our Real Estate careers. He nonchalantly advised that we'd find plenty to keep us busy. At the time, I didn't pay too much attention to Chris' words. Then on Sunday (Mother's Day) while hosting my very first Open House, I remembered Chris' premonition as I reflected on the previous week (I had plenty of time as no Mothers visited the Open House...nor did anyone else). Chris, being the real estate prophet that he is, was dead on. It's sad to say but I've never felt this busy while working a regular, let's say corporate, job. I think most people will agree this isn't a bad thing. Yeah, I've been busy but it's a different kind of feeling when you're driven by genuine enthusiasm. Thoughts of good things to come and meeting lifelong friends are a great incentive to put forth every effort possible to get your business off the ground.
And as if Real Estate wasn't enough, my wife signed me up for a six week outdoor fitness Boot Camp that meets at 5:30 AM for an hour three times a week; and I try hard not to let anything get in the way of my love for cycling, especially since it's finally warming up here.
Needless to say, this first week has flown by and it doesn't seem like I've gotten a lot of prospecting done. I do feel that I've gotten some important anchors in place for future business functions and plan to crank up the prospecting engine this week. Any advice on early start up prospecting techniques or just advice in general is always welcome. Thanks in advance and it already feels good to be here, even if just to vent about how crazy things are.
