I just recieved the local newspaper and wanted to share some exciting news with you about some upcoming growth in Baker County. The Baker county Board of Commissioners approved on Monday,3/16/09, a plan to ramp up development around the US90 and I-10 intersection. The plan increased the development area, called the Olustee Interstate Development Node, from 1,130 to 4,362 acres. The hope for increasing the size of the area is that it will create space for more than 7,000 new residences and more than 16 million square feet of space for other developement that could potentially be used for industrial space and hopefully help advance the county as an inland port.
Now that the plan has passed next month a request will be submitted to create 10 million square feet of industrial space within the developement area. This is all great news for the growth in Baker County and will hopefully bring much needed new industry to the County.
