You still bought gas though. The surge in people buying gas the day before or who will buy gas tomorrow kind of cancels out this "gas out."
See what Snopes has to say about the reality of this idea.
To really cut gas costs is to consistently cut your consumption. That means, keeping the SUVs parked for more than one day. It means switching to a smaller car, it means driving less....and doing this consistently.
Unfortunately, some of us have families and need mini vans (which aren't that much more efficient than SUVs). Some of us live in rural areas where carpooling is not an option, and where we need to drive, drive, drive. Last year, I had to drive 60 miles, one way, every day, to work - because of driving my kids to the babysitter, then to the office, then to the babysitter, then home...I had no choice.
I stay home when I can, I combine all my errands when I can...but not buying gas today isn't going to prove anything, cause I'll still have to buy it on Friday.
~sigh~

We have to have people like that run for office...and stay that way once they get elected. Sadly, my view on politics has become so jaded that I don't believe anything ANY of them say.
