KINDLE 2, New Wireless Reading Device

By
Real Estate Agent with CENTURY 21 Regency Realty

Say good bye, to newspapers and magazines printed on paper with ink.

Say hello to the future, the Kindle 2 is the newest Wireless Reading device available today.

I even heard that Dick Cheney gave one to President Bush for his departure present. The kindle or similar wireless reading devices are replacing Books Newspapers, Magazines, also can be used for blogging and you can stay in touch with different sites such as Active Rain and Twitter, and manage your input to take advantage of this wireless technology.

Still kind of high priced at around $359. but I am sure the price will come down. Some Newspapers are  going to be giving them to subscribers with their new accounts and overall they will save money on paper, ink, and distribution cost. Sorry for the paper boys and girls.

Sleek & Trim

At 10.2 ounces, Kindle is lighter than a typical paperback and as thin as most magazines. Barely a third of an inch in profile, you'll find Kindle fits perfectly in your hands.

Read in Sunlight the screen reflects light like ordinary paper and uses no back lighting, eliminating the glare associated with other electronic displays. As a result, Kindle can be read as easily in bright sunlight as in your living room. Easy on your eyes.

Because one size doesn't fit all, you can increase the text size of your favorite book or periodical with the push of a button. If your eyes tire, simply increase the font size and continue reading comfortably. Kindle has six adjustable font sizes to suit your reading preference. Now every book in your library can be large print

With the text-to-speech feature, Kindle can read every newspaper, magazine, blog and book out loud to you, unless the book is disabled by the rights holder. You can switch back and forth between reading and listening, and your spot is automatically saved. This is great for people to lazy to read.

Call me oldfashioned, but I just want to read a print version book before I go to bed.  But could change in time.

I am sure there are a lot of people who feel the same.

I do like the light weight and there is no wireless fee.

Thanks for taking the time to respond

Good luck to you in 2009

I wasn't sold on these until I saw one.  I think they're cool for travel.  The list of titles for the books I'm interested in isn't quite there yet but I'm sure it will be soon.

I think Newspapers and magazines will go away, not sure how long it will take to catch on.

They are kool

Thanks for taking the time out to respond.

Good Luck to you in 2009.

KArina,

Thank you for the info and the link to the demonstration video.  I see many advantages (lightweight, portable, ease to read, cheaper in most cases than buying the print version) and a few drawbacks (no distinction from one book to another, loss of appeal for not having a cover page or for the lesser quality of photos, currently only black and white photos seems to be available).   It should be interesting to see how much market penetration these will have in a few years once prices come down.

I'm not familiar with the Kindle, but it looks like a handy tool especially when traveling. I will take a look at it. Thanks for the link.

Nice review on the Kindle, Karina. Definitely still a bit pricy though. I'm eyeing them and waiting for the price to drop!

I usually like all things tech, but in this case my love for the look and feel of ink on paper wins out. None the less, the Kindle consistently gets good reviews and Amazon continues to sell them faster than they can be produced. I think they are on to something!
