It's National Proposal Day - Have You Popped the Question Yet?

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Real Estate Centre Inc., Brokerage

I heard on the radio today that it was National Proposal Day.  Huh?  I knew it was the first day of Spring, also known as Vernal Equinox but have I been missing something all these years?

I didn't know there was a particular day of the year that men ( or women) were supposed to pop the question to their loved one.  So I plugged it into Google and I get a lovely calendar with occasions for every day of the year practically.

Did you know that today March 20 is also Great American Meatout?  National Agriculture Day?  Snowman Burning Day?  The late Fred( Mr.) Rodgers birthday and Independence Day in Tunisia?

Being Canadian I'm afraid I don't know what Great American Meatout is.  Does anyone else?  I admit we did have snowmen in our community over the winter but I'm not quite sure where the Snowman Burning Day comes from.

As if I don't already have enough to read on AR, now I have to check out these "special occasions".

Rest in peace Mr. Rodgers.

Was not ready to pop the question...maybe in a couple months. Plus I did not know that today was the day for it.

 Oh Chuck,

You must let us all know when you are ready to pop!

Never a dull day, eh?  Oops Canadianism showing.

Man School?  What did you get your degree in?

Shirley, You married a sweet guy.  Mine never did the get down on the knee thing.  I think I actually gave him an ultimatum after 5 years dating.  Oh well we are still married 27 years and 4 kids later.

I'm including the calendar link below for all of you to check out ice cream and beef jerky.  David is that strip bacon or Canadian bacon??? Oh, and I found out what Great American Meatout and Snowman Burning Day days are.  See below.  Did you eat meat today???

Great American Meatout is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the unhealthy downfalls of eating meat.

Snowman Burning Day  is a festival to mark the end of winter and welcome spring. This holiday is celebrated, in March, by the Swiss as well as the Americans. In some cultures, they use the burning patterns to determine the type of summer they will have. (It seems they burn paper snowmen).

I'm in America and have never heard of the Great American Meatout.  And I've already popped the question several years back so that's off the table, but I do miss Mr. Rogers.  I wonder if my kids would like him as much as I did as a youngster.

Hey Rita,

Too funny!  Thanks for stopping by.

Well Jason, According to what I read about the Great American Meatout, the meat should have been off the table yesterday also!!  I think kids today would also appreciate Mr. Rodgers.  My older kids enjoyed the show and we also had a Canadian show called Mr. Dressup.  The good old days.
