This past week I had lunch at the Puccini restaurant in Cumberland Maryland. Wow! I have had the privledge of living in Como Italy and yet this might be the best pizza I have had. I had the Bianca pizza this week but I must tell you they have so many wonderful choices. It is wood fired pizza with a very thin chrisp crust. When you visit Deep Creek Lake it is a must visit.

Puccini Restaurant was established in 2006, at the site of the Old Colonial Manor, L'Osteria Ristorante, and most recently JB's Steakhouse.
The Main building was built in 1819, and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It served as a hospital during the Civil War Battle of Folck's Mill, the ruins of which are located a short distance from the restaurant. The wounded soldiers' etchings can still be seen on the plaster of the third floor walls.
Puccini, open daily for lunch and dinner, offers a casual dining experience in any of the four dining rooms on the main level, Sotto, on the lower level (formally the Wine Cellar), outside on the deck overlooking Evitts Creek, or under the front portico.
The most popular pizza at Puccini is the Buffalo Chicken, which comes from one of two wood fired pizza ovens located on the premises. Also on the menu are a variety of Pannini (Italian style sandwiches), Chicken Marsala, steaks, seafood, pasta, and salads, including the popular Iceberg Wedge and Antipasto salads.
Puccini also offers slow roasted Prime Rib Thursday through Sunday, and has a complete full bar with cocktails, imported and domestic beers, as well as micro-brewed beers on tap.
Six motel units are available.
Puccini is easily accessed from Interstate 68 either east or westbound @ exit 46 at 12901 Ali Ghan Road in Cumberland, MD. For reservations call 301-777-Puccini (7822).
